NOTE: Inspired by websites such as icebox.com and nosepilot.com, Sam decided to finally realize his dream of making cartoons by using a program called Flash and releasing them online. The name for the site was to be unconventional, and combined Sam’s love for the Ebola Virus with Disney World. Hence, Ebolaworld. The website was poorly constructed and painfully unprofessional, as Sam was still in the midst of learning Flash. A few bad cartoons were released about characters that Sam had been drawing for years. Sadly, the release dates are unknown, but are likely near the end of 2001. This was also the last year the Good Life had an episode. It would later be rebooted, but only producing one episode. The website was non-political and revolved around childish looking cartoons made for adults. At this point, no one took notice and those that did, didn’t care for the look or quality of animation.

NOTE: The website received a much needed makeover and expanded with new series. A section called ‘Weekly Update’ was created with the promise of a new cartoon every week. For the time, it lived up to it’s name and started to draw a tiny audience. Weekly Update 01 accuratly predicted Martha Stewart would go to jail, and Weekly Update 04 accuratly predicted that Bush would invade Iraq. Taco-Man became the first break-out character, and showed that he was more than a one-trick pony. Fans enjoyed his weekly news updates the most and clamored for more. However, fans were less ethusiast about the efforts of ‘Cat and Fish’, ‘Grandpa’, and ‘The Smurks’. They seemed to enjoy the more topical and political cartoons, such as ‘Bush Goes to Iraq’ and ‘Homeland Security’. Not to mention, Sam’s impression of George W. Bush.

NOTE: To capitalize on what the fans wanted, Ebolaworld began to put more emphasis on political and social satire. Everything from S.U.V’s to FOX NEWS was mocked. And to give Sam’s Bush impression a home, ‘The George Bush Show’ was born. In fact, cartoon creation exploded in 2003, especially after Sam discovered the website Newgrounds.com – with ‘The George Bush Show’ and ‘The Anti-Christ Show’ being the first cartoons released there. ‘The George Bush Show’ was an instant hit, even making the front page (along with Anti-Christ). However, for every admirer, there were 5 detractors. The series became a double-edge sword, causing would be fans to hate the Ebolaworld brand. A remake of the first Smurks episode was made with the new founded Newgrounds audience in mind, but wasn’t well recieved. In fact, shortly after the release, Sam was threatended with a lawsuit by the Smurf creators, and the series was canned as a result. ‘Smokey the Cigarette’ had a bit more luck as he caught fire with his second episode ‘Best Friends’. Ebolaworld was starting to make a name for itself, but also making enemies that would later haunt Sam.

Y417 The Stupid Adventures of Taco-Man: Knock It Off 12/13/2004
Y418 Weekly Update 37: Snowy the Frostman (New Series) 12/29/2004
NOTE: Ebolaworld continued to enjoy it’s success on Newgrounds, with every cartoon uploaded making it’s way to the front page. To hopefully spread the popularity to his own website, Sam didn’t always release every cartoon he made on Newgrounds. It was hoped that people would make a habit of visiting Ebolaworld – and join the active forum. At the end of the year, ‘The George Bush Show’ ended by accurately picking the winner of the 2004 elections. A DVD was released to good sales. Sam was happy to end the series, as he was bored with the concept and making fun of Bush outdated. The ‘Weekly Update’ section continued to slow and started to become a joke and a series problem for Sam. A wildly successful series of episodes were created as a mock Awards Show, where viewers picked the winners. ‘The Stupid Adventures of Taco-Man’ had a new episode that was a turning point in animation quality. This more professional look continued with the ‘Snowy the Frostman’ cartoon – which was to be a one shot deal. Sam also received his first paying animation job to create a series of cartoons about Michael Jackson called ‘Jacko Interviews”. And last but not least, hot from her cameo in ‘The George Bush Show’ Episode 3, Linda received her own show, that became an instant fan favorite. 2004 turned out to be a great year for Sam and Ebolaworld, as popularity in the site was rising, and the quality of the animations had vastly improved. However, the Ebolaworld brand had been labeled a liberal, bias, political cartoon website. This only served to continue shutting out would-be fans, as the website was only serving one group of people.

Y520 Update 41: Anniversary Special 03 (Final) 12/12/2005
Y521 Update 42: Snowy II: Home For Xmas 12/30/2005
NOTE: Sam knew that if Ebolaworld was to expand, it would have to cater to a more general audience. So, instead of continuing ‘The George Bush Show’, he announced there wouldn’t be a second season. Fans were disappointed, but hoped the political cartoons would continue. Sam decided to continue with social satire, but balance it out with non-political cartoons, like those he was making in the beginning. In hopes of maintaining the Bush-hater crowd, ‘The Linda Show’ received a second episode. To satisfy everyone else, ‘Smokey the Cigarette’ received a third episode, but had mixed reviews due to it’s short length. Smokey would never see another episode, but continued to make appearances in other Ebolaworld cartoons. Taco-Man received his own DVD with new content that was later released on the website. Taco-Man had became Ebolaworld’s unofficial mascot and the fan’s favorite character, but had also been marred by his political cartoons. As a result, his Weekly Update segments were rechristen ‘News Flash’ and he started answering emails in the nutral ‘Ask Taco-Man’. However, the latter fueled comparisons to Homestarrunner.com. The ‘News Flash’ series was well liked and very popular on Newgrounds. For Halloween, Ebolaworld released it’s first game ‘Night Trap’, which was a spoof of the Sega CD game of the same name. Sadly, due to programming difficulties, it missed it’s Halloween release date, angering some fans. That same halloween, Taco-Man was mentioned in the Homestarrunner Halloween episode. This brought attention to the website, but increased the comparisons. Sam T received his second paying job animating a cartoon called ‘Mean Girls’ for a right-wing website. And lastly, on a lark, a sequel to ‘Snowy the Frostman’ was made with the idea of spoofing different horror movies with outrageous plot twists. The episode was well received, but not necessarily wanted. 2005 was a good year for Ebolaworld, but viewership began slipping, as fans accused Sam of ripping off others, being too biased, and slow in releasing cartoons they wanted to see. They also still demanded more Bush Shows.

Y616 The Kim Show (Paid) 11/13/2006
Y617 Snowy III: The Nightmare 10/23/2006
NOTE: In 2006, Ebolaworld’s popularity officially began to wane. This was mostly due to Sam not listening to his critics and doing his own thing. Sam had also been unsuccessful in trying to siphon viewers from Newgrounds. To lighten things up, a second Awards Show was made with viewers picking the winners again. While popular, it didn’t retain the excitement of the original, mostly due to the fact the forums were basically dead at this point. To entice viewers back, and give them what they wanted,’ The George Bush Show’ made a comeback as ‘The New Dubya-Doo Movies’. It was supposed to be less political and a spoof of the Scooby-Doo cartoons, but ended up being like the original. Fans were happy about the return of Bush cartoons, but didn’t care for the new series as much as the old series. It was also too little, too late. Sam decided to shake things up and introduce a new ground-breaking series called ‘Unbelievably Messed-Up Bible Stories’. It made fun of those who take the bible literally, and became an instant hit, as there had been nothing like it at the time. ‘Night Trap’ was repackaged and released for the first time on Newgrounds. Tom Fulp reached out to Sam around this same time and began paying him to make new cartoons. ‘The Kim Show’ was a result of this connection. A third Snowy was made, with the series starting to take an unintentional darker tone. Tom Fulp also paid Sam to release Snowy 2 and 3 on Newgrounds that Christmas. The cartoons were a big success. 2006 was a trying year, but a bit better than the previous. It also marked the first time that Sam’s cartoons were profitable.

Y711 The Linda Show: Adventures in Wal-Mart 10/15/2007
Y712 Snowy IV: The Gleaming 12/24/2007
NOTE: Cartoon production started to sputter out and lose it’s direction. Tom Fulp also stopped paying. Due to the erosion of fans, Sam thought it was a good idea to stop making political and polarizing cartoons, but instead amped them up. He had already tired of the ‘Dubya-Doo’ series, but knew it had to continue. Even the new ‘Linda Show’ episode lacked the bite of the originals, mostly due to Sam toning it down. A new episode of Grandpa and The Good Life were made, but ignored by fans as it wasn’t what they wanted. Snowy 4, while popular, continued it’s dreary tone. In an attempt to reignite interest in Ebolaworld and Taco-Man, Sam released a few videos over the year about Taco-Man quitting. Andto add to the realism, Taco-Man wasn’t in any cartoons for the entire year. Not even his own ‘Ask Taco-Man’ series. 2007 ended up being a step backward for Ebolaworld with only a few hits, and a lot of misses.

Y812 Taco-Man the Game Master: Super Mario Pre-emptive Strike 11/17/2008
Y813 Snowy V: The Exorcism 12/22/2008
NOTE: Ebolaworld had seemingly lost it’s way while entering into 2008, but Sam had a plan to turn things around. A third Awards Show was made, even though Sam said he’d never make another. However, the episodes were created for the triumphant return of Taco-Man, who was dearly missed by his fans. And with his return, his popularity was put to work. A new series was introduced with Taco-Man reviewing video games, aptly named ‘Taco-Man Plays a Video Game’. The videos were released only on YouTube as an attempt to reach out to a new audience. It became an instant hit. Continuing on the video game theme, Taco-Man received another series called ‘The Game Master’. However, it wasn’t as popular due to the gloomier mood, and mostly unknown source material it was spoofing. Regardless, Taco-Man was back and Ebolaworld was again producing new and funny content. ‘The New Dubya-Doo Movies’ reluctantly continued, while lambasting current events leading up to the 2008 elections. As in the original series, a Presidential election was accurately predicted. The two episodes made this year, had a rushed feel to them, as they were not a top priority. Only one ‘Messed-Up Bible Stories’ was made, marking the least amount of social cartoons created in a year yet. Even Snowy 5 was more comical than before. The episode was a big success and increased interest in the series. Ebolaworld had seemingly found itself again, bringing in a whole new audience, while maintaining it’s base.

NOTE: Dubya-Doo had it’s final episode, and Sam couldn’t have been happier. With the end of this series, Sam also announced the end of his political cartoons. This opening allowed him to focus on new, more crowd pleasing ideas. One of which was to regain some traction on Newgrounds, so the ‘Life in the Portal’ series was born. It was a new breed of cartoon from Sam, as it had a style he had not used before. It was unique, fresh, and most importantly – funny. The series was a huge hit, and released a new episode with each Newgrounds related holiday. However, in order to not ruin it, Sam announced the end of the series after only 4 episodes. Fans of the cartoon were saddened, but understood. Many good things stemmed from the series as it created a new name for Ebolaworld on Newgrounds, washing away the liberal label, and created long-term connections with other popular Newgrounds artist. Meanwhile, Taco-Man continued playing video games on YouTube to an ever increasing audience, and the third episode of ‘The Game Master’ gave the series a much needed comical feeling that was missing in the first two episodes. Two new ‘Messed-Up Bible Stories’ episodes were created and released on Newgrounds and YouTube. The series was starting to catch fire on Youtube, so all of the older episodes were re-mastered and re-released to take advantage of YouTube’s new Widescreen, HD format. During all this, Ebolaworld finally became a partner with YouTube, and at the same time, Newgrounds also began paying it’s users. Due to these changes, Sam begain to rethink his own website and future. Sam decided to begin work on revamping Ebolaworld to be more of a blog with pages that link to the cartoons outside. He decided to no longer host his own cartoons, as it seemed pointless in this new internet landscape. 2009 was a huge turning point for Ebolaworld as it found it found it’s mojo and learned how to adapt. Sam’s animations were also starting to get noticed again as two different companies approached him to make cartoons.

This year will see the continuation of Taco-Man playing video games, and his adventures in Video Game World. More stories will be told from the Bible. Both Linda and Grandpa (two completely different shows), will get a fresh reboot that’ll try to capture the original spirit with a no-hold bars attitude. And if he’s lucky, Bunny might see another episode, as one has been written. Smokey too. Snowy will be exiting, but a new horror/comedy is poised to take it’s place starting this Halloween. And lasty, the Ebolaworld website finally received the makeover that it sorely deserved, allowing users to easily find their favorite episodes and socialize with others.
